This little hole in the wall was small, homey with traditional and simple dishes with proper portions!

🥗Mixed greens salad with olive oil dressing
.
🍗Baked Chicken Parmesan in a crock (the chicken was NOT breaded and fried, Just baked, which made it very moist and delicious with all of the red sauce 🍅
.
🍝Very proper 1 cup portion of spaghetti on the side with awesome red sauce!

Lunch & post workout meal 🐓
I got this idea from my gal pal @dailycupoftiff , who you should 100% follow for more yummy recipes, bc she always posts variations of buffalo chicken/tofu/cauliflower sweet taters, so I thought I would try it out 😏 it’s a repeater meal for sureeee!! —
All I did was cook some chicken in avocado oil on the stove with pepper, garlic and onion powder. Once it was done I tossed it in a little buffalo sauce and topped it w EBTB and a drizzle of @primalkitchenfoods ranch dressing. I’ll be honest, I cooked my sweet potato in the microwave (I was hangry, okay?!). Just a simple side of spinach and hemp seeds with a little drizzle of balsamic and dasss it 👍🏼👏🏼

Meet Beya!! My 6 month old who is on day #1 of Baby Led Weaning!! Her first food ... avocado 🥑🙌🏻 Why did I choose avocado as the first food?? 1️⃣ Avocado is the perfect texture
2️⃣Baby’s do not have high amylase enzyme content at 6 months to digest starches and other typical first baby foods (like rice cereal) 3️⃣Avocado is a nutrient dense option, loaded with b vitamins like folate, vitamin c, potassium, vitamin E, vitamin K, carotenoids (like lutein & zeaxanthin) to name a few!
4️⃣ Fat is essential for baby’s growth & development for optimal brain function & cellular health
5️⃣ I did not want baby’s first taste to be sweet (which would train her taste buds) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The consensus is, she LOVED it & devoured it!! Even though she just turned 6 months, she also displayed signs of readiness for eating, which is why we started #babyledweaning . Some babies are ready after 6 months, & that’s ok!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The reason why this is SO super exciting for me, besides the fact that it’s her first food!! Is because my twin boys were not able to go through this experience. They were #24weeker #preemies and are still fed via #gtube . So I am one happy mama getting to enjoy this experience with my baby girl!! 😆

Wild Salmon with Walnut Oil ❤️ Wild salmon has a ton of health benefits, particularly the omega 3 fatty acids, which promote healthy brain and nerves, prevent blood clots, and can even raise a childs iq when given early in life. Wild sourced is preferred, as more than 10 well known carcinogens have been tested as present in farmed salmon. In fact, i no longer consider farmed salmon as a "health food," contrary to popular opinion. Even with the wild sourced, pregnant women should be careful not to have more than one or two portions weekly due to mercury contamination.

What if I’m to old to go back to school? Too old to change careers... .
Every now and then I’ll get a question about this topic, and my answer always is YOU ARE NEVER TO OLD TO DO THE THINGS YOU WANT IN LIFE 💪🏼

While in undergrad, I never thought I would ever change careers. I genuinely loved nutrition and the role it has on health and disease prevention. I was in love with clinical nutrition, and then fell in love with diabetes education. So much that I started to crave a wider scope of practice and decided to pursue PA. Luckily for me, as a PA I will still be able to talk to my patients about nutrition, and educate my patients with diabetes.
.
I started PA school at 28 and will be 30 by the time I become a PA. Some of my classmates are their 50s! Isn’t that amazing? If you’re hesitant to take a gap year or two after undergrad, or hesitant to go back to school years after having another career, try to put your fears aside and jump right in! You’ll love the feeling of doing something for YOU! .

We are allowed to change our minds. We are allowed to have more than one passion. There’s no limit to how much you can do, other than your own mind
.
I leave you with that thought as I go back to study hematology & oncology 💉🧬

My dad told me he wanted me to make Indian food for his birthday, and I was more than happy to fulfill that request. Indian is my favorite cuisine, so any excuse I get to eat it I’m all for.
.
We ordered some naan, basmati rice, and chutneys from a local restaurant (that tamarind and mint chutney😍) and the rest was a healthy homemade take-out alternative version of our favorites!
.
I made coconut cauliflower rice, spiced sautéed chickpeas, turmeric roasted cauliflowers, and some crazy good sauces. Sauce 1 is my coconut curry sauce (similar to tikka masala. Recipe posted 12/18) and sauce 2 is the genius @elephantasticvegan Palek tofu recipe (just the sauce, dad doesn’t like tofu. But it’s amazing with any protein or by the spoonful🙈) I was so happy with how everything tasted! But more importantly, my dad was super happy with how everything tasted♥️

I had to share these awesome super nutritious lentil & sweet potato cookies by my friend and dietitian @marwahassan_dietitian_dubai .
🍪
Great for babies and toddlers, packed with healthy nutrients and proteins and works well for breakfast, dinner or even a snack.
🍪
Ingredients:
-1 cup mashed sweet potato
-1 cup cooked black lentils
-1/3 cup cooked quinoa
-5 tablespoons whole wheat flour
*Mix all the ingredients by hand (optional: add herbs and cheese).
*Bake in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 15-20 minutes.
*After baking, you can sprinkle some cheese on top (optional)

Creamy vegan broccoli soup #recipe new on the blog! This is a great way to get in one of my favourite green vegetables, broccoli!
Why is #broccoli so great?
- It's full of #fibre , vitamin C, vitamin A (in the form of beta-carotene), and vitamin K
- You will also get some protein, calcium, magnesium, and potassium
Just to clear the air, despite the memes that broccoli has more #protein than steak, it doesn't. You will get about 2 grams of protein per cup of raw broccoli though! And 2 grams of fibre, something steak does not have; and something that is very beneficial for health.
1 cup of broccoli gets you ~80% of your daily #vitaminC . Vitamin C can be abundant on a vegan diet but it's important to get a good source at each meal because it will help with iron absorption! Plant-based iron is harder for our body to absorb, so help it out with a nice dose of vitamin C from fruits or veggies.
Where is the iron coming from? The soup recipe itself isn't too high in iron, but if you top it with a generous portion of roasted #chickpeas , you will be getting in some good plant-based iron and protein 😀
Full recipe is at the link in bio but here's the quick-notes version:
- 6 C broccoli florets
- 2 C potato, diced
- 1 C onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic
- 3 C water + 1 vegetable bullion or 3 C veggie broth
- 2 tsp herbamare spice (or 1 tsp salt + 1 tsp herb blend)
- 1/2 C nutritional yeast
- Black pepper to taste
Put everything but the broccoli into a pot and boil for ~8 min with the lid on. Add the broccoli and cook another 6-8 min until everything is fork tender.
Add in:
- 1 C coconut milk
- 1/2 avocado
- Salt to taste if needed
Blend and serve! Hope you enjoy :)

Enjoyed this vegetable dish @welcome5thstreet last week...roasted carrots with onion jam and pistachio very colourful thanks guys and good to see next day the wider variety of carrot colours now available in supermarkets.
While more expensive than the regular orange variety I thought they could be fun for children to grow and try when tasting the rainbow 🌈
Along with beta carotene carrots are power packed with the goodness of vitamin C, sodium, potassium, dietary fibre and B group vitamins.
Although people do add honey, orange juice and in this case onion jam to carrots new carrots are naturally sweet so certainly don’t need sugar added on a regular basis.

Sunday check-in: nursing a possibly sprained ankle and drinking unicorn juice for no good reason because I still can't workout. But: it's important to listen to your body especially when you're injured so you don't injure yourself more. So. Rest it is. To anyone who avoid traveling due to their fear of losing track on their diet, here are my tips for you to maintain your weight while enjoying your trip😍
1. Walking is your secret weapon🚶🏻🏃🏻💪🏻
Sightseeing means walking all day, every day & this seems to offset any extra calories you might consume. So go ahead & take that stroll after dinner, take a morning walk...

2. Water should be your friend 💦💦
Traveling can dehydrate you. So take a bottle of water everywhere you go. Cause we tend to forget drinking water when we travel
3. Share your meals
Make sure to always share your foods because it helps you eat less while you enjoy trying new stuff too
4. Balance is the key
Try to make your meals balanced by being aware of what you’re going to eat throughout the whole day so you can be aware of what choice should you choose for breakfast, lunch or dinner
5. Opt for the traditional foods
We tend to mix between enjoying traditional foods & international ones that we already know. Therefore, try to focus on enjoying the unusual foods. the traditional ones that you never tried before without opting for the ones that you already know its taste
6. Five a Day 🍎🍒🍍🍐
Make an effort to get 5 servings of fruits & vegetables a day. It will make meals seem more filling & satisfying & provide enough fiber in your diet to keep your intestines regular
4. Dancing 🎉💃🏻
It’s one fantastic way to burn calories while having fun. Your whole body is in motion and the music makes time pass quickly. So go ahead and go try out those new clubs and have fun on the dance floor!
Lastly, know that overeating is very normal while traveling, so don’t feel guilty & let your choices be worth it and go back on track when you come back 🤗♥️ #MirnaSammour

First time trying @purely_elizabeth oats! These are the blueberry lemon superfood oats that have flax, chia, and spirulina in them! My honest review, I wish it had more of the lemon blueberry flavor that it is. But nonetheless, it was still super good! The granola is the bessssst 🤤 I definitely recommend trying it!

As much as you think that it’s not a very important topic, you’ll have to think again! Because it can sometimes lead to drug & alcohol abuse, and also to things like risky behavior & eating disorders!❌
.
Teens are definitely influenced by celebrities, movies, media & many of them don’t think they look good enough because of the pressure that is being placed on them by society 🤔
.
Therefore, they continuously compare themselves to each other & base their opinion of themselves on the way the person in front of them look. Peer pressure also plays a part in eating disorders when a friend’s dissatisfaction with her own body influences how other friends feel about their bodies 🤞
.
So, in order to help prevent this, try to talk to your son or daughter about eating habits and & image. It might not be easy, but it's important🤗

Obecnie dostęp do porad dietetycznych (także online) jest naprawdę łatwy. Jak jednak oddzielić ziarno od plew i zamiast pomocy marnej jakości znaleźć dobrego specjalistę, który naprawdę zna się na rzeczy?

Niestety w Polsce zawód dietetyka wciąż nie jest uregulowany prawnie. Oznacza to, że w zasadzie każdy z nas może nazwać się dietetykiem, nawet po 2 dniowym szkoleniu czy kursie online. 😕 Różnice w kwalifikacjach dietetyka po 5 letnich studiach, a dietetyka po kursie często bywają ogromne.

1⃣ Podchodzi do każdego pacjenta indywidualnie (uwzględnia stan zdrowia, leki, tryb pracy, aktywność, preferencje żywieniowe itd.) 2️⃣Bierze pod uwagę Twój stan zdrowia (badania laboratoryjne). 3️⃣Układa dietę na podstawie wywiadu medyczno-żywieniowego (nie rozdaje każdemu tych samych gotowców). 4️⃣Nie wprowadza niezdrowych praktyk żywieniowych (nie promuje głodówek, diet bardzo niskokalorycznych (byle szybko odchudzić), diet eliminacyjnych (np. bezglutenowej bez uzasadnienia) lub odkwaszania, odgrzybiania czy detoksu.

Let's talk carbohydrate
Carbohydrates are one of the major body source of energy. These carbs are made of fibre, sugar & starch.
Complex (Good) Carbs vs Simple (bad) Carbs:
Complex carbs have more nutrients than simple carbs. They are high in fibre and digest slowly into your system. A very good option for weight control.
Simple carbs are basically sugar. These type of carbs digest pretty quickly in your body, as they don't have as many fibre & nutrients. It also gives you an energy rush.
Try avoiding simple carbs and add more complex carbs for a longer fuller feeling and by getting a lot of nutrients.

This little snack maker is the best!! I made 12 healthy granola bars in less than 10 minutes! So easy and naturally sweetened with dates and banana! They were sweet enough without adding honey and husband approved 💕I added Brazil nuts to these bars to add some #selenium to them.

Selenium is an essential mineral and an antioxidant. Antioxidants are compounds in foods that prevent cell damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are normal byproducts of processes like metabolism that occur in your body on a daily basis. Smoking, excess stress and alcohol can all cause an excess of free radicals in the body which can lead to oxidative stress. Selenium is great for your thyroid and for your immune system! Selenium levels in foods depend of the quality of the soil they were grown in. Other foods contain selenium (like mushrooms, seafood, chia seeds, etc) so its a good idea to add a few different foods into your diet to ensure you're getting enough. 👌🏻 Easy 5 Ingredient Granola Bars
Ingredients
1/2 cup dates, pitted
1 ripe banana
1/4 cup nut butter of choice (I used @eatfatso )
1/2 cup nut of choice (I used Brazil nuts for selenium). 1½ cup organic rolled oats
1/2 cup @madegoodfoods chocolate chips (any dark chocolate will do!)

Instructions
Place oats, nuts, dates, nut butter and banana in a bowl - add to food processor. Pour the processed batter back into bowl. .
Stir in chocolate chips.

Add to @pamperedchef bar maker. Fill the mould, press down firmly and use a rolling pin to smooth out the top.

Cover and add to fridge!! This recipe made 12+ bars! Budget friendly too.
